Welcome to Vogeltown School

A truly special place to learn and grow.

I still clearly remember my first visit to Vogeltown School as a prospective principal. I walked away thinking I had never experienced a school so warm and welcoming and that feeling of connection remains something that we are all really proud of.

Vogeltown School has a strong sense of community. Students, staff and whānau work together to ensure every child feels known, valued, and supported. We believe in developing good people as well as active learners. When children feel a sense of belonging, they flourish.

Our vision of Manaaki whenua | Care for the land, Manaaki tangata | Care for the people, Haere whakamua | Go forward, guides everything we do. It also connects us to the local stories of Tuparikino, Kahutaiaroa and Urukinaki, and strengthens our sense of place and identity in New Plymouth.

Our teachers and support staff are our hidden treasures. They are deeply committed and work together to improve outcomes for every learner. We are equally fortunate to have a supportive Board and community who partner with us to keep moving forward.

Our strategic planning is linked to the concepts of Learning and Belonging. These priorities honour what we already do well and challenge us to keep improving. We are intentional about strengthening teaching practice, building consistency across classrooms, and ensuring every child makes progress.

Spread across two sites, our school has a unique feel but one thing is consistent wherever you go: warm relationships. These connections don’t happen by chance. They happen because we all choose to live out the values of what it means to be a true Vogeltowner.
